No matter how hard I try and keep this latest news upto day I always manage to fail! :)

Not a lot has really been going on over here, SSDD. Myself and Sarah are both doing fine, Sarah is working hard for Suntera and still doing a few mornings a week and me, well I'm always here updating this site.... well ok I'm not but I am busy with the other sites and trying to fight the evil Google.co.uk.

We shut for the very first time on Valentines day and we heard to another Island (Fuerteventura - 15 mins by boat to get there) which really did make a nice change. The Islands it's self, well not for us. I would say we have been spoilt with the Old Town of Puerto Del Carmen but still, it was nice to get away :)

We are also closed on the 25th March, twice in 1 year!! I'm hopefully getting a press pass to Lanzaid in order for me to take some pictures of the whole event, these pictures will then appear on Puerto Del Carmen - Lanzaid 2006 so be sure to check that out.

I've added some more pictures but I've used a program to create them for me as being soooo busy I didn't have the time to do each page.. or could be I'm just lazy?

I would like to thank everyone who has left a comment so far as we have just reached 100... yay!

Will try update again soon, hopefully this year anyway :-)

Happy New Year and Merry Christmas one and all!

So there I was today checking my e-mails and I get one from my mummy, now thinking aww thats nice I open it and begin to read to which the content was something like "your site has not been updated for a while" .... Thanks mam!

We had a great time over the xmas period, it's been nice and busy in the bar so we can still afford to eat this month. I have some pictures to put up when I get time of xmas and New Year.

The bar has been though a bit of a change as well with a section being cut... yes cut out, the old fridge going in the bin and a new one going where the section of the bar was removed. I'll put up a couple of pictures when I get time.

Now I know you will be wondering "when he get's time" well I have been busy with the latest web site; Relocation Lanzarote is a site about selling bars on Lanzarote (no the Hanging Monkey is not up for sale).

I'll leave you now looking at the new site and will try to update sooner.

Well we had a interesting night, Tropical Storm Delta hit Lanzarote late last night and left this morning leaving a lot of rubbish and dirt over the place.

There has been some damage to buildings around the old town but most at the moment is superficial. Myself and Sarah have also saved the life of a little kitten now names Storm (for obvious reasons) and now lives with us! :)

Has it been this long since I last updated, wow spain is making me very lazy.. it's great living here! :)

Nothing much is going on here really, life goes on and the bar is ticking over just nice. I've updated the Picture section so now it also includes pictures taken from Halloween so make sure you check them out.

The Guest Book page has been changed as well to try and stop spam, this means that you must enter in a validation code other wise your comment will not be accepted. This will hopefully keep out the spammy comments for now, if I do keep getting spam I'll have to go back to the old way :(

Well as they say, no news is good news! It's been a while since I've updated the news section so I though I must do this today as a lot has happened.

Where to start:- Sarah(2) has left the Island to head back to sunny Leeds, we will of course miss her and the naked star jumps but wish her the best of luck for the future.

We have not had the bar for over 1 year!!! I can say that this has gone far to quick but upto now we have had some great times and met a lot of nice people (some not so nice) but all in all, the people have made our time here fab, so thanks to them for helping us get through our first year with not to many scrapes!

Thanks for all the comments in the guestbook and keep them coming.

Well some good news, I now have a internet connection in the house so I can now keep this website upto date. So far our time here has been great, we are both enjoying all aspects of living and working in Lanzarote. I have now managed to slip into the Spanish way and I am already taking naps in the afternoon and telling Sarah that jobs can wait till tomorrow! Although not much information on this update I would like to give you some links on a temp page of the view we get every morning.

Just a quick update: I as you can guess we are now living and working in Lanzarote full time now and loving it! The Hanging Monkey is going well and we are both enjoying out time here. We are still waiting for a internet connection which we should get soon (although heard that before!). Keep an eye out for further updates.

Locusts in Lanzarote? Yes thats right Lanzarote did suffer from a small invasion of locusts. They have since all gone and the only ones remaining are dead. There was never much to worry about in Lanzarote it's self but knowing the media, it was hyped up just a little.

The Hanging Monkey web site is now fully updated, all the pages contained within this domain are HTML 4.01 valid.

If you have ever though about buying a bar then you should have a read of 'the buyers guide' which is over on Lanzaroute Tourist - Puerto Del Carmen. If you have any questions about buying a bar then please contact me and I will try and answer your questions as best I can.

As you can see The Hanging Monkey web site has been updated. The main reason for this is in order to get the page HTML 4.01 validated. They should be a few more updates on the site in order to 'tweak' the pages so keep checking back for further information.

Lanzaroute Tourist - Puerto Del Carmen have just added some Forums which is a great way to make friends with people who either visit / live in Lanzarote and find out more information about the area.

Not had a update for a while so though it was time to add one.
I've added a new map to show how to located the bar. The bar is still up and running and only opening from around 9 till 1 which will change once we move over to Puerto Del Carmen.

If you have been to Lanzarote / Puerto Del Carmen then please pop over to Lanzaroute Tourist - Puerto Del Carmen and write some reviews on either a Apartment, Hotel, Bar and Restaurant. If you can't find what you are looking for then use the contact form so the owner can add what you are looking for to the web site.

If you have any questions for Jon-Paul or Sarah about Puerto Del Carmen or even buying a bar you need to fill in the contact form. If you do and we are unable to give you a answer or you are looking for more in depth information, then I would suggest heading over to These Forums. The people who lurk here are either residence of Puerto Del Carmen (or Lanzarote) or visit the Island quite often and should be able to offer a answer to just about all your questions.

Since taking over the hanging monkey we have tried to keep this bar as friendly as possible. The bar is open nights from 9 till late. Behind the bar you will normally find Sarah who is more than happy to serve you.
